Wait, week 31 and a half? Sara, what are you going on about?
Well you see, dear reader, I mentioned in my Notes at the end of Friday’s post that the upcoming week is going to be hectic for me. I did some thinking on it and decided that I would be insane to try to keep up with the blog posts, even in my current abbreviated format, with everything I have going on in my personal life.
However, I don’t want to leave you with nothing, either. If you’ve followed the blog in recent weeks, you are aware of the Coursera NaNoWriMo prep courses I have been taking. They are the source of my current 3-day schedule, after all. I have completed several assignments for the first two courses, with more piling up every week.
In lieu of daily prompts for the week, I will share some of those assignments with you. I feel like I have been learning a lot from them, and yet I was going through some of my old posts the other day and realized that a lot of the skills I am honing in my classes are skills I’ve already implemented in earlier pieces.
Confession time. I have Imposter Syndrome something awful. Those of us who create things from nothing all have it to some degree or another, but mine howls exceptionally loud. Distance helps me see clearer, but as I write, I often feel inadequate and a fraud.
Going back through my old posts something struck me as amusing in hindsight. In my Notes sections, I have this habit of moaning about the prompt when I felt like I struggled with it. My mother teases me for it all the time. “What do you mean it’s awful? That was really well-written!” Rereading them weeks, months later, I see her point. Maybe I do have a knack for this.
Another side effect of me browsing my own blog for certain posts was the realization that I never put a search bar anywhere on the site. That was remedied yesterday, so if you’re looking for a particular prompt or all posts of a particular tag I use, that should be over on your right under the Latest Prompts now. Maybe I’m the only one who will find it useful, but I figure it couldn’t hurt.
Alright, that’s all the housekeeping out of the way. I am off for a day trip visiting my hometown for an annual food festival today. I will see you on Tuesday with one of my assignments from my Craft of Style course. Have a great rest of your weekend!
