How are we already halfway through May? Where has this month gone? Where has this year gone? June is fast approaching and I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that April was like last week. Monday and Tuesday sure felt like it anyway. Cool and wet.
It has been so wet. Everyone keeps joking about how much rain we have had up here but honestly, it’s getting ridiculous. Back in April I talked about how I had been getting back into running and was excited to be able to be active outside. Well that was really short lived. It rained almost every day after that, and when it wasn’t raining, it was cold. And then I got sick when we had a handful of nice days. By the time I was feeling better again, it was raining and cold again. I want to get out and run and play tennis again. It’s May already!
On the plus side, I’ve been doing a lot of writing. Before I started writing this post, I was sitting on a little over 12k for the month. At my current monthly average of 677 per day, that will put me over 20k. For the year, I’m just shy of 98k (though I crossed that threshold with the first few lines of this post). I will most certainly hit 100k early this week. Maybe even tonight if I’m ambitious and get a head start on my posts for this week.
In my New Year’s post, I set forth a few goals for myself. I’m happy and proud to say that I am well on target for most of them. Especially with being halfway to my word count goal 38% of the way into the year. And while I may not have sold a short story for publishing, I did submit one to a contest, which wasn’t something that had occurred to me as an option when I was making my goals. I won’t say I’ve accomplished that particular goal, but if I reach the end of the year without having sold a short story, I won’t be disappointed because I did put my work out there. Time may be flying, but I still have plenty of it.
Anyway. Here are some prompts for this week.
266. Imagine that you are at your next high school reunion. How do you think your old school friends would react to the person you are today?
267. List 25 things you will never do.
268. Are you a sports fan? Do you watch or participate? Which sports?
269. Describe in detail a float you have seen in a parade.
270. Describe your most recent dream you can remember.
Hmm, this might be an essay-heavy week. Not getting a lot of short story vibes from these. The dream one will probably be interesting though. I always have vivid, wild dreams. Heck, I’ve already turned some of those into short stories here. Regardless, I will be writing every day and have a post every night as usual.
Have a lovely rest of your weekend! I’ll see you tomorrow!
