What part of your future are you most certain about and what part are you most unsure of?
It’s been a long day and it’s getting late, so I’m gonna answer this one earnestly. Apologies ahead of time if it comes out as a rambling stream of consciousness, but hey it’s my blog and I’ll write the prompts however I wanna.
I’ve never been very good at planning ahead and looking towards the future. *gestures vaguely at the notes about her poor planning at the end of most of her posts * I’m very much a “roll with the flow” person. I wait and see what’s gonna happen before I decide how I’m going to react to it.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like making plans, but they’re usually in the short term. I don’t give much thought to my future aside from “I’ll get there when I get there.” And there’s a bit of confirmation bias there because it’s worked for me so far, so why wouldn’t it continue to do so?
The only thing I’m certain of about my future is that my husband will be there with me. Not to get all sappy in the blog, but he’s the best thing that ever happened to me and I am so very lucky to have met him when I did.
The thing I’m most unsure about might come as no surprise but it has to do with my writing. I’ve made no secret about my self-doubt regarding my writing so the thing I’m most unsure of is whether I’ll ever publish a traditional novel.
That statement might seem a bit self-defeating, but there’s a note of hope in it. Traditional publishing is a very lofty goal and a very difficult one to achieve. But that doesn’t mean I think I’ll never publish anything. Self-pub and indies are always an option if (no, not “if,” when) I ever finish a project. And everything on the blog is technically a published work, after all.
So, what about you? What things are you worried about for yourself? What things are you confident in? What about your characters? How well do they perceive their own futures?
