Author: Sara

I'm a 31 year old kid who plays an adult at work, doing data analysis in the aerospace industry. When I'm not sorting through Excel spreadsheets there or banging my head against my keyboard at home hoping for a story to come out of the garbage, I'm usually reading through a stack of books or watching anime or playing tennis with my husband.

Week 30

Whoops, forgot to write this up yesterday. It was my birthday though so I think I get a pass. It was an entirely uneventful day. I watched football and then my husband treated me to a nice dinner at a local Japanese restaurant. I had my first ever scorpion bowl! I'm glad I got the … Continue reading Week 30 →

Prompt 158-Outside Observer

Think about a time you were recently in public. Describe what you were doing from the point of view of a stranger observing you. I checked into my hotel in the early afternoon. I had no obligations for my first evening in town so I headed to the hotel bar. There were a handful of … Continue reading Prompt 158-Outside Observer →

Prompt 157-New Skill

Write about the most recent skill you have acquired. Like everyone else in his clan, Remi’s first Changing came suddenly and startlingly. At six years old, he was the youngest whelp since the Prime Elder, who discovered his own beast’s soul at roughly the same age. Remi Changed into a bird, similar to his mother’s … Continue reading Prompt 157-New Skill →

Prompt 156-Obsolete

Write about an item you use frequently that you think (or hope) will be obsolete in 20 years. I wanted to write a little story for this, I really did. I wanted to create some crazy gadget in a cool other universe and envision a future for that world where the gadget would become outdated. … Continue reading Prompt 156-Obsolete →

Week 29

Well, it happened. I didn't get home Friday night until almost midnight so I didn't get to write a post for you. And I've spent most of the rest of my weekend playing catch up on my course work for the NaNo prep courses I'm taking through Coursera. I'm not quite back on track yet … Continue reading Week 29 →

Prompts 154-155

154. If you could go back in time exactly 10 years and give yourself some advice, what would you tell yourself? The best cure for a hangover is climbing a mountain. Especially when it’s with the friends you drank with the previous night. Get involved with more clubs when you go to Clarkson. You will … Continue reading Prompts 154-155 →

Prompt 153-Mom

What is your mom like? My mom is like fire. She is warm and comforting like the hearth during the bitter, frozen winters. She is lively and dances under the summer and autumn stars while surrounded by those she holds dear. She is bright and wild and untamable. Her maternal fury will char you, burn … Continue reading Prompt 153-Mom →

Prompts 151-152

151. Write about a recent decision you have made. I am one of the most indecisive people you will ever meet. My husband is the other. We’re quite the pair. The Dinner Dilemma happens very frequently in our house, even when we have groceries in the fridge and meals to cook. “What do you want … Continue reading Prompts 151-152 →

Prompt 150-Old Flame

Do you have an ex that you would ever consider dating again? (If not, how bad were they?) Elvior drew on his pipe as he watched the youngsters break down their camp. The sun would not be visible above the trees for a couple hours yet, but the lightening sky put a skip in their … Continue reading Prompt 150-Old Flame →

Week 28

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope the weather is nice for you. Friday and Saturday were beautiful here, but it's going to be hot again this week. And of course our central air decided to stop working on the holiday weekend. Annoyed with maintenance because they won't come fix it unless it's an "emergency" (which they … Continue reading Week 28 →
